Sinopsis
Marcos is in prison. His most prized possession is a mobile phone that was smuggled in by his girlfriend. Using it, he records and sends videos to Toia. Together, they create this film. Through this clandestine exchange, Plata o Mierda tells the story of Marcos's life in prison. However, it is also a portrait of Toia and the unique relationship they develop. It is the story of someone who uses images as an escape from confinement.

Toia Bonino & Marcos Joubert
Marcos Antonio Joubert (B. Aires, 1982). He works with Toia Bonino on a documentary project about life in prison. Their short film Engomado (2021) won Best Short Film at the Mar del Plata Festival, and in 2022 they won the Best Film in Transit award for Plata o Mierda.
Toia Bonino (B. Aires, 1975). Visual artist and psychologist. Her first feature Orione (2017) won Best Director at BAFICI. In 2024, her doc L'addio won Best Editing at the Ji.hlava Festival. She co-directed the award-winning Engomado and Plata o Mierda with Joubert.
